My Story

You were never meant to perform peace.

You were meant to live in it.

I’m Latoya De’Shaun, M.Ed.—Liberation Coach, speaker, and founder of The Patent Leather Project.

For years, I was the strong one: ambitious, high-achieving, and quietly falling apart.
On paper, I had success. Behind the scenes, I was burned out, spiritually disconnected, and starving for peace.

A health crisis in 2018 cracked everything open, and in the wreckage, I found my real self.

I walked away from a 17-year career in beauty and began rebuilding my life from the inside out, with spiritual alignment, emotional honesty, and unshakeable boundaries.

This isn’t about pretending to be whole.
It’s about actually becoming it.

My work is designed with Black women in mind, but I help high-achieving women of all backgrounds reclaim their power, rediscover their identity, and live boldly in their God-given purpose.

This message isn’t just meant to be read—it’s meant to be felt in the room.
